- How does an Erection Occur?
In simple terms there are two sets of valves in the penis. When the brain sends the appropriate signals, one set closes and the other set opens, blood is pumped in and when full, both sets are closed and the penis is erect. When something interferes with this hydraulic system, the valves become floppy and inefficient, erection does not occur and the condition is called erectile dysfunction.

- What Causes Erectile Dysfunction?
There are two basic types - physical and psychological, but more often than not, a combination of the two. The most common causes of physical erectile dysfunction are the aging process - even men in their 30's and 40's - diabetes and sometimes surgery such as prostate surgery. This can be compounded by stress, worry, anger and frustration. Performance anxiety develops and worry about whether you will perform or not often results in no performance at all.
